The Position of Women and Youth in Decision-Making

Within the framework of the project “Strengthening the Rule of Law and Increasing the Participation of Women and Youth in Decision-Making in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq,” the Investigator Organization for supporting role of law and Democracy (IOL), with the support of the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), organized a workshop on 11 April 2023 to discuss mechanisms for implementing the recommendations of the study “The Participation of Women and Youth in Decision-Making Centers in the Kurdistan Region” and the content of the draft law proposal on “Ensuring the Proportional Representation of Women in the Leadership of Unions and Professional Syndicates in the Kurdistan Region.”
The workshop was attended by the presidents and representatives of the higher bodies of more than 15 unions and professional syndicates in the Kurdistan Region. Following the presentation of participants’ suggestions and recommendations, which were taken into consideration, discussions focused on further advancing the role of women and expanding their participation in decision-making positions.
