Independent watchdog for justice and the rule of law
Investigator Organization for Supporting the Rule of Law and Democracy (IOL) is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the rule of law, advancing justice reform, defending human rights, and promoting good governance across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Founded on the principle that sustainable peace and democracy rest upon fair and transparent legal systems, IOL works collaboratively with civil society, judicial bodies, public institutions, and international partners to drive institutional integrity and legal empowerment.

To champion democratic development and institutional accountability by advocating for judicial independence, driving evidence-based legislative and policy reforms, empowering marginalized communities, and building the capacity of legal actors and civic organizations through research, technical assistance, and strategic advocacy.

It is the council charged with managing the organization and executive matters and achieving its objectives, and consists of a president and eight members who are in charge of managing human resources, finance, projects, public relations, and media.

Our strategic priorities, programmatic interventions, and research outputs are guided solely by international human rights principles, professional integrity, and the public interest—free from political affiliations or undue external influence.
