With the aim of strengthening students’ legal and social awareness of issues related to early marriage, a legal awareness session was held for students of Margaret Girls’ High School in 2024.
The activity was organized as part of the “Reducing Early Marriage” project by the Investigator Organization for Supporting Rule of Law and Democracy (IOL), in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with financial support from UK Aid, and in coordination with the Ministry of Education – Sulaymaniyah General Directorate of Education.
The session addressed key legal and social aspects of early marriage, with discussions and an exchange of views on the implications of the issue and the importance of strengthening students’ legal awareness.
The activity forms part of a series of awareness-raising sessions and activities under the project, which aim to enhance students’ awareness and understanding of issues related to early marriage.
