As part of the implementation of the “Reducing Early Marriage in the Kurdistan Region” project, the Investigator Organization for Supporting Rule of Law and Democracy (IOL), in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and with financial support from UK Aid, conducted a legal awareness session for a number of religious leaders in Erbil on 13 February 2024.
The primary objective of the session was to raise participants’ awareness of the importance of adhering to legal procedures and refraining from concluding marriage contracts outside the courts, thereby contributing to efforts to reduce the prevalence of early marriage in the Kurdistan Region.
