With technical and financial support from the UNCAC Coalition and in partnership with the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the Investigator Organization for the Rule of Law has developed a parallel civil society report on Iraq’s implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), which the country ratified in 2007 under Law No. 35.
Following one year of dedicated research and monitoring, the report was published on August 13, 2025, on the UNCAC Coalition website. The assessment focuses on Iraq’s performance under Chapter II (Preventive Measures) and Chapter V (Asset Recovery) of the Convention.
The report highlights both progress and significant gaps in Iraq’s anti-corruption framework, providing concrete recommendations to enhance transparency, accountability, and the effective recovery of stolen assets.
