International Rescue Committee (IRC)

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a global humanitarian organization founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein. It works to help people affected by conflict, crises, and disasters survive and rebuild their lives. The IRC operates in more than 40 crisis-affected countries, focusing on areas including health, education, protection, and supporting individuals and communities to achieve self-reliance.

The IRC has been working in Iraq since 2003, implementing diverse programs to support communities affected by crises. According to the IRC’s current information, the organization operates in Anbar, Kirkuk, Ninewa, and Salah al-Din Governorates, with offices in Erbil and Baghdad. Its programs in Iraq focus on protection, rule of law, legal assistance, legal awareness, early childhood development, education, and livelihoods and economic support.
