As part of the “Reducing Early Marriage” project, a legal awareness session was held for the parents of students at Lavan Girls’ High School. The session was organized by the Investigator Organization for Supporting Rule of Law and Democracy (IOL), in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with financial support from UK Aid, and in coordination with the Ministry of Education – Erbil General Directorate of Education.
The session highlighted the importance of legal awareness and the role of parents in understanding and addressing issues related to early marriage. It also provided an opportunity to discuss key legal and social aspects of the issue through dialogue and the exchange of views.
The activity forms part of the project’s ongoing efforts to strengthen legal knowledge and awareness among families and communities. Similar sessions and activities will continue to be implemented in a number of schools across the Kurdistan Region in the coming period.
