Sulaymaniyah, 20-21 May 2026: The Investigation Organization for Supporting the Rule of Law and Democracy (IOL)
in partnership with the NPA and in coordination with the Ministry of Justice (Which Ministry???) held a two-day workshop in the city of Sulaymaniyah from 20-21 May 2026.
A number of representatives from the Federal Government institutions participated in this workshop including: the Ministry of Interior, the Supreme Judicial Council, the General Secretariat of the Council of Representatives, the Ministry of Youths, the Commission of Integrity, the Iraqi Media Network, the Ministry of Defense, the National Security Advisory in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The main aim of this workshop was to discus strengthening the rule of law and organizing the administrative and legal affairs. The participants discussed drafting the details of implementing the national strategy for promoting the rule of law.
During the first day, the participants shed lights on the principles of rule of law and main plan for its implementation. Hence, the sub-plan of the Federal Ministry of Justice and in the presence of the ministry’s special committee was presented. The participants also discussed distribution of tasks between ministries and different institutions to ensure that the plan will be implemented in detail and with no issues during the coming years.
In the second day, after group discussions, the sub-plans of each institution were presented.
In the end of the workshop, the participants affirmed on the coordination of all ministries and institutions as a key method for the success of the national strategy (2025-2029), where the end goal of these actions is practically serving the citizens and establishing the justice and rule of law in Iraq and Kurdistan Region.
