Workshop in Baghdad on Institutionalizing the Implementation Plan and Securing Funding for the National Rule of Law Strategy (2025-2029).

Within the framework of the “Developing the Rule of Law in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region” project, the Investigator Organization for the Support of the Rule of Law and Democracy (IOL), in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) and in coordination with the Federal Government’s Ministry of Justice, held a workshop in Baghdad on April 20, 2026. The workshop was held under the title “Institutionalizing Strategic Implementation and Attracting Funding for the Implementation of the National Strategy to Promote the Rule of Law in Iraq (2025-2029).” Representatives of relevant stakeholders attended the event, where speeches were delivered on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Justice by Deputy Minister Dr. Burhan Muzhir Al-Qaisi, as well as by the Investigator Organization.
The content of the event focused on the systematic implementation of the national strategy for the rule of law, alongside the procedures for securing the necessary budget to execute the initiatives and activities outlined within the implementation plan. Discussions also highlighted the importance of defining the duties and authorities of each party and presenting evaluation reports on the executed initiatives to ensure the successful implementation of the plan.
Participants further emphasized that achieving significant outcomes over the next five years requires all steps to be well-documented and closely monitored. Concurrently, the financial aspects and procedures for funding the projects were discussed, with several proposes.
