According to an official data from Iraqi Judicial Council published on 2020, around (1,498) divorces happened in the court in which the women was under 15 years of age, and on 2021, the rate increased to (2,594) cases which is really high (Data of Kurdistan was not available). These children have faced psychological and social issues after their divorce. Hence, Investigator Organization for the Rule of Law (IOL) implements the project of (Preventing Underage Marriage in Kurdistan Region – Iraq) with the support of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and funded by The European Regional Development and Protection Programme.
